Christmas Lights On Barnegat Boulevard, Still?

A reader asks why they're still there

Does anyone know the reason behind the Christmas Lights still on nightly at the house on Barnegat Blvd, just past Rite-Aid...Im sure there is a significance..

They like Christmas lights.

A reminder to celebrate Christmas everyday !!
Maureen Brennan Caprio February 16, 2014 at 10:32 AM
It's been too cold and snowy to take them down!
Sasha Brenner February 16, 2014 at 11:05 AM
It's weird I believe they put them up after Christmas...every year...
Mac February 16, 2014 at 11:30 AM
looking for a white Christmas maybe
country joe February 16, 2014 at 11:40 AM
.. They are Holiday Lights,.. Christmas, New Years , Easter, 4th of July, etc. etc.... that way they get to stay up all year.. Whats wrong with that ???

No harm done. In fact, they lend cheer to a township whose property owners are beleaguered by ridiculously high tax rates. In fact, I thank the residents of that dwelling for keeping the cheer alive. I am confident the electric company thanks them, too.

Maybe their old folks and just waiting for warmer weather.
Proud Pappa February 16, 2014 at 12:52 PM
It was not a negative post by any means... One thought was they had a child overseas fighting for our Country, If this was the case I was going to go offer an Ameican Flag to the family to display.. I think its great...Brings cheer to the dark area.
Proud Pappa February 16, 2014 at 12:53 PM
P.S. the pic posted here is not the house the post was about...the display is very well done, not that the pic one isn't..

who cares
Pattie February 16, 2014 at 01:54 PM
Who cares is right ... Many places in ny keep white lights up all year round ... Unfortunately living in a retirement community brings out people with literally nothing better to do ... I hope that homeowner keeps them up as long as he likes !
sandy bottom February 16, 2014 at 02:14 PM
maybe they are getting ready for next year

You could always Knock on their door..... Introduce yourself and perhaps make a new friend.
Mike Mazzucca February 17, 2014 at 08:35 AM
Maybe they celebrate Russian Christmas...
Rick February 17, 2014 at 09:10 AM
I like those lights.
Mommy-of-4 February 17, 2014 at 09:11 AM
Although I took our lights down in January, their lights bring a smile to my face each night I see them. :) I am not concerned with "why" because I just assumed it brought them joy to keep them out. Why not ask why garbage is allowed to be left in front yards and be an eyesore...or garbage cans outs for weeks because people are too lazy to put them away. As far as the lights, I enjoy them.

Pattie, Pattie, Pattie. Barnegat Boulevard is not in one of the elite retirement communities of West Barnegat. It is the gateway to Settler's Landing.

Wow, Proud Pappa was just voicing a concern over the lights and you all are jumping on his case. Maybe someone in the house is hospitalized or worse yet maybe the people inside are dead and that's why the lights are still on. Have a heart folks! I'm with ya' Pappa and I know the house you are referring to.

Surprised they havent been stolen
annie February 18, 2014 at 10:38 AM
Take a look at the house on the corner of Nautilus and Compass in Manahawkin. I would prefer the lights to what is hanging from their fence. We have to look at this for months every year.

annie - I feel you!!

I still have my white lights up too. I like having the porch lit up at night. Hoping to put up other colors as other holidays approach. No green for St. Patricks Day..but hoping for pink or purple for Easter, red and blue for 4th of July..etc.
toni beers March 26, 2014 at 01:35 PM
Why not leave the lights up just replace th bulbs for differnt Holidays I am supprised the town is not making them take them down beacause we live in such a well maintained town like barnegto
