2012 Was a Busy Year for Barnegat Fire Company

Company answered 572 calls throughout the year.

Between extreme weather like Sandy and other issues throughout the year, last year was Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company's busiest, according to House President Gary Brown.

The company answered 572 calls throughout the year, with the following break down: 

Fire Alarm Activations:  163
Carbon Monoxide Alarms: 77
Smoke / Gas Investigations: 47
Wires Down/electrical Issues: 52
Brush Fires:  28
Appliance Fires: 19
Structure Fires: 24
Fuel / Gas spills / leaks: 18
Motor Vehicle Accidents: 27 
Car Fires: 13
Mutual Aid with other towns: 10
Landing Zones for Medevac: 8
Others: 86

"In 2013 we plan to continue providing first class fire and rescue protection to Barnegat and surrounding areas," Brown told Patch. "We will continue to provide training to our members on the use of equipment and responding to different situations. We will increase our outreach to the community through fire prevention/fire company promotion presentations to community groups."

He also said the company plans to continue to provide fire house and fire truck tours for groups and children’s birthday parties, host several fund raisers throughout the year, including a Wine and Beer tasting scheduled for May 18, and, renting the dining hall.
