Armed Robbery, Heroin Arrests in Stafford Township

A 19-year-old Toms River man has been arrested with armed robbery and terroristic threats after he allegedly told someone he would sell them prescription drugs.

A 19-year-old Toms River man has been arrested with armed robbery and terroristic threats after he allegedly told someone he would sell them prescription drugs, and then pulled a gun on the person.


On Tuesday, April 23  at 6:18 p.m., Stafford Township Police were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery that occurred in a parked motor vehicle in the area of Walter Blvd. and Morris Blvd. in the Beach Haven West section of Stafford Township. 


Police said that an investigation revealed that Giulo Poli travelled to Stafford Township under the pretext of selling prescription drugs to the victim. When the victim entered Poli's vehicle, Poli displayed a handgun and threatened to kill the victim unless the victim gave Poli all of his money. The victim escaped, and subsequently contacted Stafford Township Police.

Stafford Township Police broadcast a description of Poli and the vehicle he was operating to all area police agencies and the vehicle was stopped by the Lakewood Township Police.

Poli was charged with one count of 1st degree armed robbery and one count of 3rd degree terroristic threats. He was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of $100,000 bail.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional arrests are anticipated, police said. 

Detective Keith Oler was the arresting officer. He was assisted by members of the Stafford Township Patrol Division and Lakewood Township Police Department.


Also, Stafford police  have arrested and charged a 24-year-old Manahawkin woman for heroin possession and drug paraphernalia after they found her unconscious at Stafford Park Apartments and allegedly overdosing on the drug.

On  April 17 at 7:30 a.m.,  officers located Amanda Jackson on the living room floor unconscious. She was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center where she was received treatment and was subsequently released.

Upon her release from SOMC, Jackson was placed under arrest and charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of $10,000 bail.

This matter is pending a future court date. Ptl. Christopher Smith was the arresting officer.
