Barnegat Man Airlifted In One-Vehicle Parkway Crash
Car left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.
A 25-year-old Barnegat man was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, Sunday afternoon in stable condition following a one-car accident on the Garden State Parkway.
According to a preliminary investigation, Kiranbhai Patel was driving a 2006 Infiniti M35 southbound on the parkway near mile marker 66.2 in Stafford Township when his car ran off the left side of the road, State Trooper Joseph Tietjen said.
The vehicle went down an embankment, struck a tree and overturned, according to Tietjen.

Patel was entrapped and had to be extricated.
The reason the car left the roadway is still under investigation, Tietjen said.

The accident, which occurred at 3:26 p.m., shutdown the southbound lanes of the parkway for approximately 15 minutes while the airlift took place.
The left lane was closed for approximately an hour.
