Barnegat Man Charged With False Report To Police

The man's allegations that a local woman stole money from his vehicle turned out to be a false report, police say.

A Barnegat man was arrested yesterday, at 4:00 p.m., for filing a false police report and falsely implicating another.

Ronald J. Kleinfield, 46, of Barnegat, filed a report with the Barnegat Police Department on April 15, alleging that a female Barnegat resident had stolen $600 from his motor vehicle on March 6th.

Officers took a report regarding the alleged theft and forwarded the case to agency detectives.

Detective Maryann Cirulli investigated the case and determined that Kleinfield had actually loaned the money to the female subject and had filed the police report in the hopes that it would expedite the return of the borrowed funds, police said.

Kleinfield was charged with the fourth degree offense of falsely incriminating another and was released on his own recognizance.
