Barnegat Man Embroiled In 9-11 Controversy Arrested Again

A township man who has been questioned about his claims as a first responder during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has been arrested for the second time in less than three weeks, police said.

Charles J. Giles was arrested at an East Bay Avenue address at 6:49 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2013 by Officer Lauren Keilitz. He was charged with fourth degree contempt, police said.

Giles' bail was set at $5,000 with 10 percent option. He was processed and released after posting bail.

Giles was first arrested on assault charges at 8:07 p.m. on Aug. 28, at a home on East Bay Avenue. Police did not release details of the arrest or the victim's name.

"As was the case with the Aug. 28 arrest, I am legally restricted from releasing any further details with respect to this arrest," Lt. Keith Germain said.

Giles lives at 564 East Bay Avenue in Barnegat, according to Whitepages.com.

News 12 New Jersey finished a two-part piece on Giles' claims about his injuries suffered during 9-11 last week..

Giles told Patch late last week today he would have no further comment on the matter or the assault charge and referred all questions to his attorney. He has since closed his Twitter account.
