BARNEGAT POLICE REPORT: Man Charged with Criminal Attempt

Incident occurred on Deer Run Drive.

A 21-year-old Manhawkin man has been arrested and charged with criminal attempt following an incident in Barnegat Township last month.

On January 31st, Detective Maryann Cirulli arrested Jake Rush for fourth degree criminal attempt.

Two days earlier, at 1:15pm, Barnegat police responded to a Deer Run Drive South residence after a neighbor reported seeing a male subject attempting to gain access to the residence via a locked rear window. The suspect was startled by the neighbor and fled the area prior to the officer's arrival.

As the result of an investigation, Rush was identified as a suspect. Further investigation by Detective Cirulli resulted in the development of probable cause to charge Rush.

Rush was processed and released on his own recognizance pending a court date.
