Barnegat Police Search Leads To Drug Arrest

The search followed an arrest of Barnegat resident on an assault charge after a dispute, police say.

Police responded to a call regarding a dispute last Thursday, and ended up also arresting a Barnegat man on a drug possession charge, in addition to a simple assault charge, according to the latest from the Barnegat Police.

Michael Connolly, 27, of Barnegat was charged with simple assault on May 24 at 1:20 p.m., after the police responded to Connolly's Mizzen Drive address for a dispute, the police report said.

After Patrolman Sarah Girgenti made the arrest, members of the Investigative Division conducted a consent search of Connolly's residence during which they discovered suboxone, which is a prescription medication meant to treate opiate addiction, anabolic steroids and hypodermic syringes, police said.
