Barnegat Township Committee Votes To Combine Two Fire Companies

Firehouse will remain as substation, firefighters to merge with Barnegat Volunteer Fire Company, township administrator says


Sometimes a fire can start without any warning, destroying property in a matter of minutes and leaving people in a state of shock. That describes the feelings of the members of the Pinewood Estates Volunteer Fire Co. in Barnegat Township, who learned at the April 7 township committee meeting that the fire company situated at the westerly area of Route 72, would immediately no longer exist. Following the meeting, police officers went to the firehouse to lock the building for what was termed “security purposes,” according to a report in The Sandpaper.
