Barnegat Woman Ticketed After Driving Into Front Of Dunkin Donuts

No injuries reported in accident

Stafford Township police have charged an 86-year-old Barnegat woman with careless driving, after she drove into the front of the Dunkin Donuts store on Washington Avenue.

Police responded to the store at 6:37 p.m. on May 29 on a report of a car into the front of the store. They found that a 1988 Ford sedan had driven over the curb and struck the front of the store, causing "significant" damage, according to the police report.

The driver, Lucy Lore, was trying to park when she drove over the curb and into the store. No one was injured in the accident, police said.

Lore was issued a summons for careless driving, police said.

Older drivers need to retested every so many years. I have many stories about older drivers doing strange things

If these stores that have head-on-parking in front of their building had the pylons like WaWa has, accidents like this could be avoided.

SB Girl: Its not the store's fault. Why should they have to spend money to install pylons? Retest the drivers and make them responsible.

Not to mention the curb she jumped is fairly substantial, she really had to hit the gas.

It's not only about age...this could happen to anyone...the pylons are a precaution...if there had been a pedestrian in front of the store, this could have had a very sad outcome...
