The details of the incident have yet to be officially commented on or confirmed. Therefore, they are not being presented as fact. And, that is "awesome reporting." Getting it right, not first. Unofficially, and yet to be confirmed, is that it appears to have been a minor HAZMAT spill of less than 5 gallons of gasoline that was stored on residential property. The gasoline was released when recent flooding dislodged and tipped over the container. HAZMAT units for different emergency services units around the county, including Berkley and Toms River, responded to the scene to assist with the cleanup along with Barnegat Light Volunteer Fire Company Station 13 members. Beach Haven First Aid Squad also responded to the scene, but there were apparently no injuries. Units were on the scene until approximately 12 a.m. When we have this officially confirmed we will add it to the story.

OMG all this for a 2.5 gal can of gas tipping over?? WOW..a little overkill? PLease don't think I am putting down our volunteers, they are GREAT and all the credit in the world goes to them...but it was a bit much for such a minor spill..
