Hoboken Man Accused of Burglarizing Two Pick-Up Trucks In Barnegat

Toms River woman also arrested in relation to the case last month.

Barnegat Township Police say they arrested a Hoboken man Monday on charges of burglarizing two pick-up trucks last December at the Stone's Northside Garage on Route 9 in Barnegat, together with an accomplice.

Both pick-ups were equipped with snow-plowing gear.

According to the police, Detective Michael Mitchell arrested Andrew Aurigemma, 21, of Hoboken on burglary, attempted vehicle theft and criminal mischief charges on March 26.

Earlier, Mitchell also arrested Valerie Rodd, also 21, of Toms River, in connection with the same incident, which took place on Dec. 23, 2011.

"Ptl. Alex Hoffman had noticed an occupied suspicious vehicle parked in the Stone's Garage side parking lot at approximately 11:30 p.m.," the police report stated, "and stopped the vehicle as it was leaving the area."

According to the report, Hoffman found that Rodd was at the wheel. Aurigemma, whose appearance seemed "disheveled and dirty," walked up to the vehicle a short time later. Aurigemma claimed he had gotten out of the car after having an argument with Rodd, so, in the absence of any further evidence of wrongdoing, Hoffman did not detain them, the report said.

Three days later, on Dec. 26, 2011, the owner of Stone's Northside Garage on Route 9 discovered that the vehicles had been burglarized and reported it to the police department.

Mitchell was able to use the information from Hoffman's stop to develop his investigation and ultimately determine that Aurigemma and Dodd were responsible for the burglaries, the report said.

Aurigemma was released on $30,000 bail and Dodd was released on $10,000 bail.
