Homeless Man Charged With Resisting Arrest, Assaulting Stafford Police Officer

Couple had been living in a tent on private property

Stafford police recently arrested an 18-year-old Manahawkin man after they responded to a call of two homeless people fighting in a wooded area at the corner of Hilliard Boulevard and Beach Avenue.

Police responded to the area at 9:30 a.m. on July 2. They found that Shane Dellaperute, 18, and his 17-year-old girlfriend had been living in a tent and were involved in an argument, according to the police report.

Both Dellaperute and the juvenile female were arrested for obstruction and trespassing after it was determined they were on private property, police said.

Dellaperute was also charged with resisting arrest and aggravated assault after he assaulted one of the arresting officers. He was lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a future court appearance.

The juvenile female was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were unrelated to the incident. Sgt. Schiattarella was the arresting officer.
