Jury Finds Tuckerton Man Guilty Of Attempted Sexual Assault Of Girl, 8

Victim testified at the trial

An Ocean County jury recently found a Tuckerton man guilty of the attempted sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Oscar Cordero- Quintero, 38, was found guilty of second degree attempted sexual assault and third degree endangering the welfare of a child on March 27, Della Fave said.

He will be sentenced after an AVENEL evaluation is completed. The defendant has a detainer from the Department of Immigrations and Customs.

The guilty verdict stems from an incident that occurred between June and December of 2012 in Tuckerton.  The victim was known to the defendant.  Defendant tried to kiss the victim with an open mouth, unbuttoned and unzipped her pants.  Jury selection and testimony started March 25, 2014.  The girl, now nine years old, testified at the trial, Della Fave said.

Debra Giordano of the Ocean County Victim/Witness Unit assisted during trial prep and trial.  The case was investigated by Detective Melissa Matthews of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and Officer Joseph Luna of the Tuckerton Police Department.  Senior Assistant Prosecutor Terry Ann Linardakis prosecuted the case.
