MANAHAWKIN POLICE REPORT: Stolen Copper, Smashed Windows
Police arrest and charge others on outstanding warrants and driving under the influence of alcohol
On Sept. 1, 2012, officials with the Stafford Police Department arrested and charged two Toms River residents and one Barnegat resident with trying to take copper.
Michael Rush, 27, of Toms River, Marianna Infante, 29, of Toms River, and Jason Johnson, 34, of Barnegat were arrested and charged with theft of copper after removing approximately 400 lbs of copper wire from a spool of wire located at the Walters Homes construction site behind the Stafford Park Apartments, police said.
All three people were processed and released pending a future court appearance.

In other news, on Sept. 1, Stafford police responded to a report of a smashed glass front door at the Cumberland Farms store located at 1504 Route 72 West.
Two men wearing dark clothing, black ski masks and gloves allegedly entered and stole an undetermined number of cartons of cigarettes. The Stafford Township Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

Also, Stafford Police reported that on Sept. 2, Little Egg Harbor Police tipped Stafford Police that there was a person who was possibly driving while under the influence of alcohol leaving their town on Route 9 northbound.
The vehicle was located by the Stafford Police at milepost 69.4 on Route 9 in Cedar Run. The driver, Alfredo Galvez-Suchitez, 36, of Ship Bottom, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. A required court appearance has been scheduled for Sept. 14.
On Aug. 31, the Stafford Township police arrested and charged Joseph M. Eckert Jr. of Manahawkin, with possession of a contolled dangerous substance and he was issued the following motor vehicle summons: driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, reckless driving, speeding, driving while using a cell phone, failure to inspect, and failure to exhibit registration and insurance cards.
Also this weekend, Stafford police arrested and charged two men, Stanley Chambers of Little Egg Harbor, and Mark Umosella, of Berlin, for outstanding warrants out of Seaside Heights and Atlantic City respectively. Both men were processed and released.
