Pinelands Assistant Principal, of Barnegat, Arrested on School Grounds with Drugs

Christopher Peters allegedly participated in prescription painkiller drug deal during the school day

A Barnegat resident and Pinelands Regional High School assistant principal was one of two men arrested Thursday after allegedly participating in a drug deal on school grounds.

Christopher Peters, age 56, of Barnegat Township, was arrested at the Little Egg Harbor high school and charged with illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance, roxicet pills, according to a press release issued by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. His bail was set at $10,000.

Police also arrested Mark Kilmurray, 31, of Little Egg, who allegedly came onto school property during the school day to conduct the drug exchange with Peters, the release said.

Kilmurray was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance on school property and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance on school property. His bail was set at $40,000.

The investigation is being conducted by the Little Egg Harbor Police Department. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
