Robbery occurred this morning, suspects fled in a blue sports utility vehicle, police said

The Barnegat Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred at approximately 8:45am today at a Route 9 residence near the intersection of Old Main Shore Road..

A resident of the house heard a loud noise and confronted two male subjects who had broken into his garage and were in the process of stealing property. One of the subjects shoved the homeowner to the ground and ran to a dark blue SUV. Both subjects then fled the area in the SUV, police said.

The victim described the subject who shoved him to the ground as a white male in his 20s, about 6 feet tall with a slim build and short brown hair. He was wearing a navy blue sweatshirt and light-colored pants. Unfortunately, the victim could not offer a good description of the other subject, police said..

The composite sketch of the described subject was prepared by Officer McDowell of the Toms River Police Department.

Anyone with information concerning this robbery or the identity of the person represented in the sketch is asked to contact the Barnegat Police Department at 609-698-5000.
