Point Pleasant man arrested for hindering apprehension following traffic stop

The following items were recently released by the Barnegat Township Police Department.

Friday, Feb. 17: Garrett Tromsdorff, 29, of Point Pleasant, was arrested on several charges after giving false information to an officer during a traffic stop. 

Ptl. Edward Hayes stopped Tromsdorff on West Bay Avenue at 8:16 a.m., police said. During the stop, Tromsdorff, who had multiple suspended drivers licenses in New Jersey and South Carolina, provided officers with a fictitious name, date of birth, and social security number.

He was ultimately arrested for hindering apprehension, false incrimination of another, and obstructing the administration of law. Tromsdorff was released on $7,500 bail with the above charges, as well as motor vehicle summonses for driving suspended, uninsured vehicle, and driving on private property to avoid a traffic control device.

Thursday, Feb. 23: At 7:15 p.m., Ptl. Tim Bradshaw arrested Phillip Shiner, 23, of Barnegat on a no-bail violation of probation warrant issued by the Ocean County Sheriff's Department. Ptl. Bradshaw located Shiner at his Laurel Court residence. Shiner was turned over to county sheriff's officers and lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
