Police arrest teen after Wawa shoplifting incident

The following items were recently released by the Barnegat Township Police Department:

 

Tuesday, Nov. 29: At 9:41 p.m., Ptl. Thomas Behrens arrested Peter Leogrande, 18, of Barnegat, for shoplifting.

Leogrande was located by officers on Bayshore Dr. after Wawa employees reported that he had stolen a food item and fled the Route 9 store. During the investigation, Leogrande was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Leogrande was charged with shoplifting, possession of marijuana under 50 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia before being released on his own recognizance.

Wednesday, Nov. 30: At 2:33 p.m., Ptl. Lauren Keilitz arrested Steven Hilscher, 27, of Barnegat on an outstanding $5,000 warrant.

Hilscher was wanted for committing an assault during a domestic violence incident. He was lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of bail.
