UPDATED: Police Blotter for Wednesday, June 29

More arrest news for the weekend.

The following items were recently released by the Barnegat Township Police Department:

Friday, June 24: At 10:38 p.m., Ptl. Nicholas Dapuzzo stopped a vehicle driven by Laura Thompson-Schaeffer, 41, of Barnegat on Route 9 for failing to maintain its lane of travel. Thompson-Schaeffer was ultimately arrested and charged with DWI, reckless driving, careless driving and failing to maintain lane of travel. She was also charged with obstruction for beign uncooperative and failing to obey officers' instructions during processing. Thompson-Schaeffer was lodged in the Ocean County jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Saturday, June 25: At 12:33 a.m., Ptl. Robert Armstrong was investigating a suspicious vehicle parked at the ball fields on Lower Shore Road. During the encounter, Ptl. Armstrong and his K-9 partner Bullet located a bag of marijuana inside of the vehicle. As a result of the seizure, the car's operator, Scott Hardy, 19, of Barnegat was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and was released on a complaint summons.

Saturday, June 27: Ptl. Nicholas Dapuzzo arrested Carmen Vargo on several outstanding contempt of court arrest warrants out of the Ocean County Sheriffs Department, Ocean Township and Brick Township, totaling $15,960. Vargo was unable to post bail and was lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

Sunday, June 28: At 6:32 a.m., William Boyd Jr., 51, of Manahawkin reported his 1994 Ford Mustang stolen to police. The vehicle was later located in Barnegat at about 10 a.m. by Ptl. Christopher Steins. During the follow-up investigation, it was discovered that Boyd falsely reported his vehicle stolen. Boyd was arrested and charged with false report to law enforcement by Det. Maryann Cirulli. Boyd was released on a complaint summons.
