Stafford Police Report Two Incidents Of Strangers Approaching Children

No abduction attempts were made, police say

An advisory from the Stafford Township Police Department:

Twice in the past week the police department has responded to incidents where strangers approached young children in the Ocean Acres Section of town and asked them questions. The subjects did not attempt to abduct the children in either incident.

The physical description of the subjects are not similar so it does not appear that the two incidents are related. In both cases, the subjects left the area after speaking with the children and were unable to be located once the police department became aware of the incidents.

It does not appear that there was any criminal intent on the part of the subjects in these incidents, but the Stafford Township Police Department would like to remind parents of the following:

1. Parents should always be aware of where their children are.
2. Any incident involving suspicious persons or vehicles should be report immediately to the police department. This will reduce the time between the incident occurring and the reporting time to the police department and will increase the likelihood that police will be able to locate the subject(s) or vehicle and investigate further.
