Relatives From Barnegat Indicted on Drug Charges

Grand juries hand up indictments

Two Ravenwood Boulevard residents have been indicted on drug charges.

Melissa P. Avallone, 20, and Vincent Avallone, 29, were indicted last week by an Ocean County grand jury on possession charges, while Vincent Avallone also faces weapon and possession with intent to distribute charges.

Melissa Avallone was accused of possessing oxycodone, alprazolam, suboxone and clonazepam when arrested Dec. 15. Vincent Avallone was accused of possessing suboxone and having oxycodone with intent to sell.

He also was charged with possessing a switchblade knife "without any explainable lawful purpose."

Melissa Avallone was released on a summons. Vincent Avallone was initially held on $50,000 bail but posted Dec. 16.

Grand juries also indicted:

  • Susan Szabo, 49, of South Seas Court on a theft by deception charge.

Szabo used a stolen debit card at Ocean First Bank numerous times from Dec. 4 to Jan. 6 and presented a forged check, the indictment states. She was released on a summons.

  • Bruce N. Garrett, 53, of Quail Road on a drug charge.

Garrett was arrested Dec. 4 and accused of possessing oxycodone. He was released on a summons.

  • Michael A. Cammarota, 19, of Azalea Court on an eluding charge.

Cammarota was arrested March 22 after allegedly trying to flee from Patrolman Jason Carroll, the indictment states. 

He was initially held on $25,000 bail but posted March 23.
