Six Rescued From Boat Snagged on Barnegat Inlet Jetty

Crew, vessel saved after multi-agency effort

The U.S. Coast Guard, along with members of the New Jersey State Police and Sea Tow rescued six people from a boat that became snagged on the sunken portion of the north jetty of Barnegat Inlet on Saturday.

According to a statement from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light, the 40-foot pleasure vessel became stuck on the jetty, which extends east from the visible jetty underwater.

The crew used dewatering pumps to keep the vessel seaworthy while the six people on board were rescued. In the end, the Coast Guard's statement said, both the crew and the vessel itself were saved.
