Stafford Man Badly Injured After Jumping From Moving Car

18-year-old struck his head on pavement when he jumped from car


An 18-year-old Stafford man suffered serious head trauma after he jumped from a car at the intersection of Lighthouse Drive and Route 72 after an argument with his girlfriend, police said.

Stafford police responded to a call about an unconscious male have a seizure in the street at 8:14 p.m. on July 4. They determined that Deshawn Powell jumped from the car while it was moving, making a turn from Route 72 to Lighthouse Drive, police said.

Powell was flown by MONOC 1 medivac helicopter to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center Trauma Unit where his condition was listed as critical, police said.

Patrolman Jacob Connor is the investigating officer.
