Police recently arrested a Manahawkin woman and charged her with drunk driving, after they received a call of a semi-conscious female parked in front of a house in Ocean Acres.
Stafford police responded to the call at 5:45 p.m. on June 3. When police, MONOC paramedics, and Stafford EMS arrived, they found the woman to be conscious and in no medical crisis, according to the police report.
Further investigation revealed that the driver of the silver Mercury Milan was intoxicated. They arrested Ellen M. Varela, 65, Mulberry Drive, Manahawkin and charged her with DUI, police said.
She was taken to police headquarters, where she was also charged with "multiple" other motor vehicle offenses. She is scheduled to appear in Stafford Township Municipal Court on June 20.
