Stafford Police are investigating an accident that sent one person to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment of a head injury.
The accident took place yesterday around 4:30 p.m. at Lighthouse Drive and Clearwater Avenue, according to Lt. Thomas Dellane.
According to police, a pedestrian who was jogging in the shoulder attempted to cross the road prior to the cross-walk. As the pedestrian started to cross the road, a vehicle was passing by at the same time resulting in the pedestrian running into the side of the vehicle. The pedestrian sustained a head injury from the incident and was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment.
Police said that speed was not a factor in the collision, and that names of the involved parties are not being released at this time for continued investigation.
Any witnesses are asked to contact Officer Justin Pascale of the Traffic Safety Unit (609) 597-1189 X8436. Traffic was temporarily diverted during the investigation.
Also, police reported on Sunday Jan. 20, they arrested and charged Christopher Cosentino, 23, of Toms River with shoplifting at the Walmart.
Cosentino was allegedly observed by store security leaving the store with Xbox and PS3 games. He was stopped by security outside the store and fled on foot behind the Walmart.
Cosentino was located by police behind the St. Mary’s church on McKinley avenue. The games were also located in a wooded area behind the Walmart. Cosentino was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and later released pending a court hearing in Stafford Twp. Municipal Court. Patrolman John Morrin was the arresting officer.
