Two Girls At Frederic A. Priff School Threatened Stabbing, Brought Weapons To School

No injuries reported, both girls facing juvenile criminal charges


Two 12-year-old students at the Frederic A. Priff Elementary School who threatened to stab another student brought scissors and a knife to school, police said.

Detectives from the Ocean Township Police Department responded to the school on May 1. They found that one girl brought an 11-inch kitchen knife into the school and the other brought a pair of kitchen scissors, police said.

One of the girls removed the knife from her backpack on the morning bus ride to school and stabbed the rear seat on the bus, police said.

"During interviews with both juvenile suspects, both admitted they were mad at another student and made threats that the student would get stabbed," according to the police report.

The knife and scissors were recovered during the investigation. Both juvenile suspects were released to the custody of their parents following the investigation interviews.

Detective Andrew Risden signed juvenile criminal charges against both girls   for possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and terroristic threats. The charges were forwarded to Ocean County Family Court , police said.

The girls will also face disciplinary action through the school district Detective Sgt. William Sneddon assisted in the investigation.
