UPDATE: No New Information On Route 72 Crash Involving Two Quebec Men

Both driver and passenger sustained "significant" injuries in the accident

No new information has come to light following a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon in which the driver lost control of his Harley Davidson and veered down the center lane of the roadway, police said.

Both Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin did not have listings for those injured: Sylvain Morin, 55, of Val Morin, Quebec, and Josee Turgeon, 49, also of Quebec.

Morin was traveling westbound near mile marker 21.7 when the accident occurred at 2:54 p.m., police said.

He applied his brakes as traffic was slowing down for a light ahead. Both he and his passenger, Turgeon, sustained "significant" injuries in the accident, police said.

Morin was taken by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Turgeon was taken to Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin, said police.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Route 72 westbound was diverted into one lane for approximately thirty minutes. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact Patrolman John Morrin at (609) 597-1189 ext. 8445.
