Waretown Man Indicted for Child Sex Assault

A 41-year-old Waretown man was indicted this week by a grand jury for series of sexual assaults on a child over six years in Ocean Township.

George Reid, Illinois Avenue, is accused of sexually assaulting the child, who was less than 13 years old, between March 19, 2003 and March 18, 2004.

Reid is accused of aggravated sexual assaults on the child between March 1, 2004 and March 18, 2007, when the child was between 13 and 16 years old. Between March 19, 2007 and March 18, 2009 Reid is accused of sexually assaulting the child when she was 16 to 18 years old.

An Ocean County grand jury also accused Reid of endangering the child’s welfare with sexual conduct between March 2003 and March 2009.

Reid is being held in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail. If he posts bail, a condition of his freedom is that he have no contact with the alleged victim.

Also indicted in Superior Court in Toms River this week were:

• Jennifer K. Bergstrom, 42, of Brook Street, Barnegat, for trying to get Xanax by fraud Feb. 3 in Barnegat.

• Richard W. Giaccio, 31, of Julian Court, Mayetta, for robbing Eileen Keyasko Dec. 23 in Barnegat. He is being held in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $125,000 bail.
