Popular Christian Performer To Play For Local Kids
Korn guitarist, who has gone through tough times in his life, will share a story of his journey to faith via a talk and a performance on June 9 at Bayside Chapel.
Brian "Head" Welch, former Korn guitarist, a Christian who has faced down some of life's toughest challenges, and his new band Love and Death will headline a concert June 9 at Bayside Chapel during a youth event geared toward middle and high school-aged children.
"Brian Head Welch has been through everything -- drugs, sex," said Jason Coache, Bayside Chapel's youth pastor. "His songs talk about his story and he will take time to talk during the show."
Welch left Korn in 2005 after facing drug and alcohol addiction, announcing he had become a Christian.

The third annual Niteflix will feature free activities from 1 to 5 p.m., such as a BMX stunt show, paint ball, jousting, a disc jockey, kinetic sports and kinetic dancing. At 7 p.m., the doors will open for the concert, with New Jersey/New York-based Christian band Kronicles and then Love and Death.
Coache said they have enlisted the help of the Barnegat Township Police Department in conjunction with the DARE program for Niteflix.

"We are hoping this event can help a lot of the hurting youth in the area that battle drugs, alcohol and issues of self injury," said Coache. "We will have counselors there. It will be a place where people can find help in the midst of their hurt."
Last year, Coache said 500 people attended Niteflix, about 50 people talked to a counselor and some began attending the church's youth group, where they were able to connect with an adult leader who was able to mentor them.
"(This is our opportunity to) do something loving toward our community," he said.
Niteflix takes place at Bayside Chapel, 965 West Bay Avenue. Tickets for the concert are $12 in advance, $15 at the door and $10 each for groups of 10 or more. Tickets are available on itickets.com.
Coache said they chose the name Niteflix for their community outreach event because it is defined by Urban Dictionary as "dreams so complex in plot and rich in production value that they seem like feature length films," and they want heaven and God to seem that real to people.
An independent, non-denominational Christian church, Bayside Chapel focuses on incorporating music and other performance media into services, which are held Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. For more information, visit the Bayside Chapel website.
