Barnegat Officials: Yes, We Attended Meeting; No, We Didn't Break The Law

Barnegat officials acknowledged that at least two Township Committee members attended a closed session of the March 18 Board of Education meeting - but denied that the meeting was "illegal."

Mayor Susan McCabe, speaking at the committee's Monday meeting, acknowledged that Deputy Mayor Martin Lisella, Committeeman Albert Bille and herself attended the regular meeting, and were invited to attend the closed session "for reasons I'm still not completely clear about."

"Out of abundance of caution, only two members of the Township Committee participated in closed session discussions," she said. "Two members is not a quorum."

She said two members attending a meeting does not violate the Open Public Meetings Act, otherwise known as the Sunshine Law.

"Our presence at the school Board of Education meeting was simply to stress the importance of working together," McCabe said.

McCabe acknowledged "it was I who expressed concern about three of us being invited to executive session."

Ever since Susan McCabe bamboozled her way into the mayor's seat the Barnegat TC has become laced with controversy. Does anybody honestly believe she went to this meeting to "introduce herself?" McCabe is the exact type of person Barnegat does NOT need. She flip flopped from one political party to the other for one purpose only. McCabe is an attorney with an anemic practice. She desperately needs a county job and will play political hooliganism to get one. Why isn't McCabe doing something about quality of life in Barnegat? Drug trafficking abounds, public areas are strewn with litter and she hasn't got a clue how to jump start things. Think your property value is low now? Give McCabe a few more months and watch it sink even more. Mark my words.

Ray, no disrespect but you are so wrong. They stated that they shut it down to save money but last month they purchased Harley motorcycles for what? They stated it was to drive the motorcycles on the trail. Are you kidding me? Where are the ATV's that they purchased last year? They are not saving our tax dollars, they are wasting it! What about Meadowedge? It cost the resident of our town over 1 Million dollars. TAKE A RIDE OVER THERE AND SEE HOW BAD IT IS. It is falling apart. Cox House - another township property falling apart. Should I continue? The Mayor, Al Bille and Marty Lisella are lairs! If you think they care about this town you are wrong. Sorry for the rant :)
