Feds To Allow Wind Turbine Development Off LBI, Southern New Jersey

The U.S. Department of the Interior plans to open up 344,000 acres off Long Beach Island, Atlantic City and Southern New Jersey to wind power companies that want to lease sections of the sea floor, according to a story on app.com.

The turbines would be located about seven miles offshore. But opponents of the plan worry about damage to migratory birds and eye pollution.
