Holgate Reopening Today

Boil water advisory remains in effect.

The Holgate portion of Long Beach Island will be open to all residents as of  Tuesday, November 27 at 7 a.m., according to emergency management officials.

On their website, emergency management officials noted a boil water advisory is still in effect for Holgate, although other portions of the island no longer have to boil water.

Emergency management officials also noted that due to the current conditions incurred as a result of Sandy, a recent cleaning of the storm drains and low water pressure from the Municipal Water System, the following restrictions apply on all parts of the island:

  • No filling of swimming pools until March 1, 2013
  • No pumping of sand or water from swimming pools until March 1, 2013
  • No dewatering around swimming pools until March 1, 2013.

Finally, since gas service has been restored to most of the island, officials are asking that residents return their space heaters to the Long Beach Township police lobby so they can be redistributed to people that need them in the Seaside area.
