Local Legislators Receive Committee Assignments

Rumpf, Gove take Republican leadership positions

Southern Ocean County's representatives in the state legislature have received their committee assignments for the upcoming year.

Senator Chris Connors (R-Ocean) retains his seats on the Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee as well as on the  Senate Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

"It is a privilege to continue serving on the Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee as this position will allow me to advocate on behalf of the thousands of veterans who reside in the 9th District," he said in a statement.

Assemblyman Rumpf (R-Ocean) was reappointed to the Assembly Regulated Professions Committee and will join the Assembly Consumer Affairs Committee, which he served previously on. Rumpf was also named Assistant Republican Leader.

"Serving on the Regulated Professions Committee will allow me to continue my commitment to improving New Jersey’s standing in the business community to attract the capital investment necessary for sustained job growth." said Rumpf, in the statement.  "While much progress has been made over the past several years achieved mostly through bipartisan cooperation, it is critical that New Jersey’s laws and regulations are coherent and practical for professionals working in the state."

Assemblywoman DiAnne Gove (R-Ocean) will continue serving on the Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee as well as on the Assembly’s Higher Education Committee. The Assemblywoman, a retired teacher at Southern Regional, was also named Assistant Republican Whip.

" I look forward to continue working with veterans’ organizations in assessing and addressing those issues currently confronting our veterans, including those who are no longer serving as well as those on active duty," said Gove, adding that the position on the higher education committee will be helpful in her representation of Stockton College's interests.
