Long Beach Island Branch Library Slated To Reopen At End Of Month

The Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library is expected to reopen by the end of April, Library Director Susan Quinn said.

The branch - located at 217 South Central Avenue in Surf City - was closed on Feb. 10 after library facilities staff and the county architect determined a roof leak had damaged a section of the interior ceiling.

“We look forward to summer 2014 and know that people will enjoy using this beautiful library facility for their summer vacation reading,’’ said Quinn.

New siding will also be added to the building before it reopens.

 “We are looking forward to getting back," branch manager Linda Feaster said. "Our customers have missed having the branch open and we’ve missed providing them the many services and programs we offer and that they expect from us.’’

Ocean County Library permits card holders to borrow or return materials and enjoy library programs at any of the system’s branches.

Long Beach Island branch customers may pick up requested items at the Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library located at 129 N. Main Street. The branch can be reached at 609-597-3381.

The book drops located at the Long Beach Island branch will remain available for the return of items.
