Ocean County Day Offers Community Info to Residents

Expo in Little Egg Harbor offers inoculations, voter registration information and more

On Wednesday, more than two dozen county government departments and agencies will gather at the Little Egg Harbor library for Ocean County Day, an open house geared toward residents looking to learn more about their county and communities.

The free event, held at 290 Mathistown Road in Little Egg, runs from noon to 4 p.m. In addition to info tables, there will be door prizes of tickets to Jenkinson's Aquarium, the New Egypt Speedway and shows at Ocean County College's Arts and Community Center, county officials said in a news release.

The Friends of the Library will serve refreshments.

Here's some of what the county has planned:

  • Pneumonia and Influenza inoculations will be administered from 1 to 3:30 p.m. For those who are eligible and 65 years or older, the Health Department will bill Medicare Part B. For all others, the shots are available for $20. A doctor's note is required for anyone younger than 65 requesting a pneumonia shot.
  • The Election Board will be on hand to register new voters, and will have a working voting machine available for voters to try.
  • Representatives from Ocean County College and Ocean County Vocational and Technical School will present educational opportunities.
  • A number of departments, including Parks and Recreation and the Cultural and Heritage Commission, will highlight local leisure activities.
  • Information will be presented on the Board of Chosen Freeholders, County Clerk and Surrogate.
