Proposed Ocean County Budget Totals $400 Million, Up $14 Million From 2013, Report Says

A public hearing on Ocean County’s proposed $400 million budget for 2014 drew just one comment from a faithful Republican Party member who is a regular at meetings of the Board of Freeholders, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.

Garry Black, 53, of Jackson spoke for two minutes in a speech that lavished the freeholders with praise for what he described as their mastery of good government.

The budget is up $14 million from last year, which will result in a 1.6-cent increase in equalized value per $100 of assessed property value. That means the county government tax rate will amount to 34.1 cents per $100 of equalized value.
