Resident Making Video Recordings of Township Meetings Available

Dec. 5 meeting posted on YouTube; resident and blogger seeking volunteers to help with future taping

A Barnegat resident has decided to make video recordings of Township Committee meetings a reality, and he’s looking for volunteers to help document the biweekly meetings.

Morris Flory, who also blogs on Barnegat Patch, said he worked with township officials to make a recording of the Dec. 5 meeting – taken by Flory’s neighbor – available on YouTube.

Flory said Township Clerk Sharon Auer succeeded in posting the 46-minute recording to the video sharing website. He said that he’d like to continue making the videos available to the public with the help of the township, but he hopes a small team of residents will be interested in pitching in and taking recording responsibilities in turn.

“I think it’s great that we have some sort of record,” he said, and the system of delivering a file to the township so that they can publicize it – unedited – seems to work. “I think it’s a good start,” Flory said.

He said he welcomes emails at garagesales2011@gmail.com from anyone interested in volunteering to record at meetings.

The Township Committee’s next meeting is tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the municipal courtroom.
