VIDEO: Coast Guard Places Navigational Aid

Aid will ensure safer navigation for those traveling near Barnegat Light.

A Coast Guard aircrew placed a navigational aid on a jetty last Wednesday near the Barnegat Lighthouse State Park in Barnegat Light, to replace an aid that was knocked down during Hurricane Sandy.

The tower was built and shipped to Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., where it was flown to the jetty via an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., and set up by Aids to Navigation Team Cape May, N.J.

"Due to the cooperation between Atlantic City, Elizabeth City and ANT Cape May, we were able to mark the jetty, which will help ensure safe navigation for mariners transiting the area," Lt. Jane Peña, the co-pilot of the Jayhawk said in a statement.
