In their second round of state playoffs this week, the Lady Bengals took home a historic win in softball yesterday against Sterling High School, which had been the defending South Group II Champion.
The Barnegat High School softball team advanced to the semifinals for the first time in the team's history.
"Last year we came up to this point and lost it," coach Laura Miller said.
Going into extra innings after a scoreless regular contest, the Lady Bengals loaded the bases with only one out and closed out the game.
"My pitcher did a phenomenal job," Miller said. "My second baseman came up huge with the game-winning hit and my right fielder caught a ball that would've been a run."
