Stafford Township Schools Welcome New Superintendent

George Chidiac, who has served as Principal of one of Barnegat's schools for the past five years, will replace retiring Judith DeStefano-Anen.

George Chidiac has been approved as Superintendent of Schools to lead the Stafford Township K-6 School District beginning July 1, 2013. He replaces Judith DeStefano-Anen who is retiring on June 30, according to officials at the Stafford Township Board of Education meeting Thursday.

According to Board President Joseph Sauer, “After a lengthy search and interview process we have found the right candidate. The Board is confident that Mr. Chidiac will build on what we have established here in Stafford, while bringing innovative ideas to grow student achievement, staff expertise, and community involvement.”

Chidiac, who holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Administration and Supervision from Georgian Court University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Health and Exercise Science from Rowan University, has served as Principal of the Joseph T. Donohue School (K-5) in Barnegat Township for the past five years.

Before being appointed as Principal, he served as the Vice Principal of Barnegat’s Cecil Collins Elementary School and as Supervisor of Special Education.

Prior to his administrative positions, Chidiac worked for 10 years as a teacher of Health and Physical Education and Special Education and coached a variety of athletic teams.

“I look forward to working with Stafford’s teachers, administrators, and parents,” said Mr. Chidiac. Adding, “I sincerely hope the entire educational community will continue to support the district’s efforts to provide the best possible education for all students.”

Stafford Township School District is a K-6 district serving 2250 students in five schools.

In 2011 Stafford Intermediate was named a Model School in the Arts and the district is currently a participant in the NJ Department of Education’s Principal Evaluation Pilot program.
