Barnegat to Cheer On Bengals Heading to State Championship Sat.

Football community asking residents to line up to cheer on team buses as players head to their first state championship

The Barnegat community is invited to cheer on the Bengals as they head to their first state championship on Saturday.

The Barnegat Bengals varsity football team is heading to the South Jersey Group III division state final at 4 p.m. Sat. at Rowan University.

The team buses are leaving Barnegat High School at about noon. So the football parents are asking local residents to line up on Bengal and Barnegat boulevards around 11:15 to 11:30 a.m., said Jeannine Fucci, one of the football moms.

"We want to give them a great send-off because they're going to the state championship," Fucci said.

"We just want to show them how proud we are of them," she said. "They've worked so hard this year to get where they are, and we thought that would be a great way to show them we're proud of them, to have everyone line up and cheer them on because they are going to represent Barnegat."

The football parents are also giving the players breakfast, as they usually do before a game, and they will be decorating the outside of the high school.

Barnegat will face off against Delsea in the South Jersey Group III division in what is their first trip to a state final since the program's inception in 2006, according to Scott Stump's report on Shore Sports Network. Click on the link to read the Shore Sport's game preview with highlights about key players and the past season.
