Two Claws Named All Stars as Team Returns Home

Lakewood BlueClaws host SAL classic next week.

On June 18 the Lakewood BlueClaws will host the South Atlantic League All-Star game welcoming the best from around the league to First Energy Park. When the teams take the field the locals will be well represented. 

Catcher Chace Numata and reliver Steven Inch have been picked for the roster while manager Mickey Morandini and trainer Mickey Kozack will be working in the dugout. 

So far this season the team has been near the bottom of the Northern Division but there is still time to gain some ground before the end of the first half of the year.

The BlueClaws will make a quick four game stop home starting on Monday before four games against the Hagerstown Suns. All fans who come to Monday's game will get free Twizzlers when they leave and all fans 12 and under will eat free just for coming to the contest.

Also on Monday the team will celebrate New Jersey with a special program designed for fourth grade students from around the state.

Tuesday looks to be a busy day for the local squad as they have a doubleheader against the Grasshoppers on the schedule. The 6:05 game will be a Senior Day Tuesday with all seniors eating free and Baseball Bingo during the day. The first 2000 fans will also receive free sports bottles and it is also Howell Township Night at the ballpark. 

One of the biggest hitters in the history of the game will be in Lakewood on Wednesday with Cecil Fielder heading to the park for the game. A former South Atlantic League All-Star himself, Fielder will be signing autographs during the game. Wednesday night will also be Wing Fling with area restaurants selling their delicious finger food treats for just 50 cents. There will also be a contest for the best wing and a wing eating contest. 

The BlueClaws will start the second half of the season in West Virginia and Delmarva before returning home on June 27.
