Tractor-Trailer And Bicyclists Involved In Barnegat Light Crash

An apparent motor vehicle accident involving two bicyclists and a tractor trailer in Barnegat Light is now under investigation

An apparent motor vehicle accident involving two bicyclists and a tractor trailer in Barnegat Light is now under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police, according to local police.

Investigators were on the scene recreating the accident that occurred at 30th Street and Central Avenue in Barnegat Light near the border with Loveladies around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Members of the Barnegat Light First Aid Squad were seen treating the victims on the ground and then transporting them by ambulance to a medical facility or possible helicopter medivac.

Two bicycles were also seen lying on the grass near the southeast corner of the intersection

Capt. Anthony Deely of the Long Beach Township Police Department said all further details would come through the New Jersey State Police Commercial Vehicle Division and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, who are overseeing the investgation.

Deely could not comment further on the accident other than to confirm there are no fatalities as of press time.

There is no information at this time as to the identity of the riders or their condition.

The accident scene is near where Bayview Avenue in Barnegat Light ends and turns up 30th Street to Central Avenue/Long Beach Boulevard for southbound traffic to continue in that direction.
