The foul weather on this Fourth of July has postponed some of the scheduled celebrations. But don’t worry most activities have been crammed into a fun filled weekend.

You can start early on Saturday with the first Freedom Fest 5K in Brant Beach.  On site registration is at 7:30am with the run at 9:30. Pre-event registration fee is $40, while day-of registration fee is $50 at Bayview Park, 68th St. and the Boulevard. First 300 registrants receive a free t-shirt! The fun continues all day long at the park with a classic car show, live music, food and fireworks at dusk

Beach Haven and Barnegat’s evening fireworks have also been moved to Saturday. In Beach Haven, head down to Bay Village, and in Barnegat a concert by Sounds of the Street will precede the pyrotechnics at the Municipal Dock on East Bay Avenue.

The Fourth of July Parade in Tuckerton begins at 10 a.m. at Tuckerton elementary school and ends at Tuckerton Seaport. Seaport activities following the parade include a baby parade at 4 p.m., a free video game trailer from 4 to 8 p.m., photo booth, children’s activities, Main Street food vendors and live music from 5 to 9 p.m. View fireworks over the lake from the seaport or Tip Seaman County Park at dusk.

Barnegat Light’s parade goes off at 7 p.m. and everyone is invited to join in. Assembly starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Post Office parking lot on 11th Street. The parade will head north towards the Lighthouse and swing around to the gazebo at Bayview and 7th Street, where there will be music and awards for some of the participants.

Before heading to Barnegat Light, be sure to visit Ship Bottom for the 2nd annual Summer Sizzle Block Party to benefit the borough’s volunteer fire company. The event runs from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company at 2006 Central Ave. The event features the bands Rock Lobsters, Big Whiskey and Virgin Vinyl plus food, inflatables, raffles and a flat-screen TV door-prize giveaway. There will also be a hot wings eating contest with the chicken supplied by Chicken or the Egg and a hands free watermelon eating contest.

The annual LBI boat parade will be afloat from noon to 3 p.m. Led by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the parade will run from the Brant Beach Yacht Club to the Surf City Yacht Club and back to the Waterfront Park.

The fun continues on Sunday when you can support the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company with an all you can eat pancakes and sausage breakfast.. The pancake breakfast will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the Surf City Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and EMS on 713 Long Beach Blvd.  There will also be baked goods, crafts, books, dog treats and pet toys available for purchase from the auxiliary. Admission is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger.

Finish off your weekend with another bayfront concert in Barnegat with ReUnited on the Municipal Dock at 7 p.m.

5-K times have been moved up for tomorrow. Registration starts at 7 and race starts at 8:30.
