Alex's Lemonade Stand Today and This Weekend in Beach Haven
Event is in honor of 5-year-old Meghan Norris
In their continuing efforts to fight childhood cancer, the Norris family will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand at Schooner’s Wharf in Beach Haven, New Jersey today, Friday, August 17, Saturday, August 18 and Sunday, August 19 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Norris family will host their Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in honor of their daughter, Meghan Norris, a 5-year-old childhood cancer survivor.
Meghan was diagnosed with a tumor on her cerebellum, known as medulloblastoma, in February of 2007 at the age of 5 months. Due to her young age, Meghan's treatment options were limited and she was given less than a 20% chance of survival.

After months of grueling treatment and a total of seven surgeries, including three brain surgeries, six rounds of chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, Meghan emerged with no evidence of disease. The treatments, however, has had many side effects, including widespread developmental delays. Meghan lost nearly a year of her life during a critical developmental period, and also suffered hearing loss in both ears. Since that time, Meghan has attended feeding therapy to learn to eat by mouth again, attends physical therapy twice a week, and is currently attending the Joseph Cappella School in Mercer County.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.
