Reynolds called the beach patrols "wonderful ambassadors for the town." She noted that their have been dozens of rescues and assists throughout the summer across Barnegat Light beaches, and she said she often gets letters from those who have been helped by the patrol praising them for their assistance.

Caffrey thanked the Council for their recognition, and gave a nod to his teammates, noting that Barnegat Light was well-represented in other tournaments this year, including the USLA National Lifeguard Championship in Cape May. "Nate got third for the iron man in that competition," Caffrey said. "We had another team member get third in the run swim run, and this is a big deal because this is a competition involving people from all over the country and all over the world."
