First Day of Fall Ends a Hot and Rainy Summer

Saturday is the first day of fall, and the forecast calls for some summer-like weather.

The Barnegat-Manahawkin area can expect sunny skies, a high temperature of 81 degrees with about a 20 percent chance of rain.

Sunday's weather will continue clear but with cooler temperatures topping out at 70 degrees.

Tropical Storm Nadine is still spinning far, far away near the Azore Islands, but forecasters predict no other significant tropical developments in the next week.

The first day of autumn also closes the books on summer 2012. The region saw a steamy July and wet months of June and August.
