Many years ago, in 1968 there was a movie called Valley of the Dolls which dealt with addiction toRead More pills. Lyrics of the song seem poignant to the current heroin epidemic. "(Theme From) Valley Of The Dolls" Gotta get off, gonna get Have to get off from this ride Gotta get hold, gonna get Need to get hold of my pride When did I get, where did I How was I caught in this game When will I know, where will I How will I think of my name When did I stop feeling sure, feeling safe And start wondering why, wondering why Is this a dream, am I here, where are you What's in back of the sky, why do we cry Gotta get off, gonna get Out of this merry-go-round Gotta get off, gonna get Need to get on where I'm bound When did I get, where did I Why am I lost as a lamb When will I know, where will I How will I learn who I am Is this a dream, am I here, where are you Tell me, when will I know, how will I know When will I know why?

Valley of the Dolls? Wasn't Patty Duke in that movie? At least half of her, anyway.

Why is this placed at someone else's door? Where is personal responsibility? SOme people grow up inRead More crappy families, or have horrific pasts and don't succumb to a drug addiction. I really think part of the problem is not having a strong support system behind you and the glamorization of drugs in the entertainment media.

BOYCOTT THE POPCORN PARK CONCENTRATION CAMP!
Mac April 14, 2014 at 09:07 pm
I don't know about boycotting the park but I am disappointed the animal isn't available to the ownerRead More at all. It's seems like the cat is being sentenced to solitaire for jaywalking. Much ado about a local matter that probably could have been handled much better. I must admit I'm curious as to what threat to the community the owner visiting her pet in jail could cause.

Hey Mac, I know I didn't dream it, - though I did hit up on my medical marihoochie scrip- but didRead More not someone post that the aforementioned charges were initiated by the Tuckerton Chief (to cover the hip shooter) because the Barnegat coppers beat the ever living bejesus out of Rhonda King and now the post has poofed?
Mac April 12, 2014 at 09:50 am
wow, you're right FIMF - that post does seem to have gone up in smoke - perhaps it was posted by theRead More ungracious Barnegat 9/11 phony hero looking for a new hole to hide in in Tuckerton - something about the dog not breaking the skin but the woman ending up with broken bones - why was the dog even out of the police car with 3 police officers (2 police officers and a loaded gun in uniform) present if the dog wasn't going to protect the woman?
Jake Cavanaugh April 14, 2014 at 04:40 pm
Hopefully the State will get involved and all the guilty cops will get arrested. Once the woman'sRead More lawyer gets involved, the money will start coming.

We are all on the "look out" for this dirty user. The neighborhood watch is on patrolRead More tonight. Anyone seeing him should notify the police immediately he may be armed with a syringe !!!
Dan P April 15, 2014 at 07:41 pm
@very nice: It doesn't mention anywhere in the article about him having a syringe or selling drugs.Read More I don't understand what you are talking about when you say that I should educate myself. I am pretty educated on this topic and I don't see where I've said anything that would suggest otherwise. Tragically, heroin is a serious problem in our world that is sadly moving from the ghetto to our suburban neighborhoods. And you are right that we should watch for suspicious behavior and report it immediately. The point that I disagree with you with is about judging this man as someone who is not fit to live because of a serious problem that he has. It seems that the layman doesn't understand until someone close to them is affected by the disease of addiction. I'm sure you would have a little more sympathy if this man was your brother, son, or friend. I believe that he needs help, not harsh punishment and extreme disciplining. Who knows what he has to offer to the community if he gets the proper treatment?
very nice April 15, 2014 at 07:54 pm
Lmfao hahaba @ Dan . Sure he would offer something great to the community. Maybe a laugh . Lmfao .Read More And it wouldn't be my family doing dope thats for damn. . Sure. But if it was I would disown them. A dope head ain't no friend of mine !!! Like my name says ... I only do "very nice" things . Dope is not included in my rituals. And what ever way he uses the drug by syringe or nose it doesn't matter. Its a dirty thing. It must take a dope head to stick up for a dope head.

Why pretend Grunt? State your cause. You can't be held back here by the Township Committee. I don'tRead More need to see more notices that said the committee's action are lies. I'll like to learn why they are lies in your opinion. While I agree this matter may have been able to be handled better, and while I'm sure many fire company members feel slighted as I'm sure I would if blindsided, the committee does have solid ground to stand on in this matter from their side of this event. However, if there is reason to shake the foundation of this established solid ground, then please, start shaking.
Grunt April 11, 2014 at 06:21 pm
In the fire service the foundation you speak of is a brotherhood based on trust, honor, integrity,Read More and selfless service to one's community. The actions of this administration and the Barnegat Fire Company is one of straight up deceit. If this move is so good for the community, why was everyone kept in the dark? The community had no say and the volunteers of Sta. 12 had no say in the matter. There was no discussion in open session, then a vote was cast in executive session. Immediately followed by a covert mission to lock up the fire house. Which is owned by the Sta. 12 and is private property. The town did this without due process. It has been my experience that good things do not require deceit and lies. Again, if this such a great idea why was done in secrecy?
Mac April 11, 2014 at 06:44 pm
You do raise some interesting points Grunt. I would think the next township public meeting might beRead More a good place for both sides to air their cases. The intensity of this sudden action and lack of public discussion have been concerning as the rumors have grown as they flew about, and reapplying funds for other matters other than tax relief being taken as a grain of salt as always, the township committee's actions have quite a bit of merit on the surface. It's the straw that broke the camel's back that needs to come to light for a more insightful judgment of the sudden disbandment/consolidation activity.
Joey Joe April 11, 2014 at 07:37 am
@4Liberty - you are right--being drunk in public is NOT a crime under NJ Law...however, when taggedRead More with the additional charge "Disorderly" - one can and often times will be arrested, as was apparently the case in this instance. Disorderly Conduct is defined as "A person commits the crime of disorderly conduct in New Jersey by fighting, threatening, engaging in violent behavior, creating a hazardous or dangerous condition for no good reason, OR using loud and offensive language in public. Given the fact that this woman allegedly DID USE loud and offensive language in public I'm betting the charge of "drunk" will be dropped, but the "Disorderly" charge will stick. I believe that had she not become "loud and nasty" she would have been taken to the hospital to sober up and that would be that - EXCEPT for the bills from the Hospital for her treatment and monitoring.
Robert Yates April 11, 2014 at 08:52 am
@Mr. Happy: I am sure that you think you are clever and you are. You are a clever propagandist forRead More the state. It does not matter if it is blue action or red action, you are in favor of it. And if you think public officials are never encouraged to vote one way or the other by people with financial leverage, you are exceptionally naive - at best, or purposefully dishonest - at worst. @HomeOfTheBrave: you are correct that I have never joined the military or any other law enforcement agency and the reason is this. I loved what this country used to stand for. I think the founding documents are historical gems, but now is not then. The Constitution is dead and many of our laws are immoral and absurd. I could not in good conscience enforce bad laws and take directives from incompetent leaders like GWB and BHO. To your last point, I do not expect to have any big influence on the masses by posting here on the Lacey Patch. It is a fun hobby of mine, where I learn a little from others and perhaps others can learn a little from me. I have no illusions of grandeur. BTW: the last HOTB that posted on here was a Lacey cop and while firm, he was respectful and quite polite. But I guess you are not him.
