Wow. Such logic

You must be a Liberal Democrat looking to discredit anyone who opposes you by calling them crazy andRead More drunk and everything else the Soviets did in the beginning. Saul Alinsky wrote the book on it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saul_Alinsky http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rules_for_Radicals

Where does it end? No rights for those that have problems with a church. Too much bias withRead More police departments, city attorney's, ect. People have the misconception that "church members" are honest and tell the truth. But they are NOT!!
nonoise April 20, 2014 at 11:53 am
I am the face of forced religion. Keep church noise out of my home. Change the noise law LARead More Municipal Code Chapter 11, Article 5, Section 115.02b. Remove the "exemption" for churches. http://highlandpark-ca.patch.com/search?keywords=i+am+a+noise+victim

I am all for allowing her plate - as long as the same tolerance is given to all faith plates.
John Santaella April 20, 2014 at 11:44 am
Good point Marie, people already have bumper stickers proclaiming their faith. By having a vanityRead More plate the state is not promoting a religion.
Hugh April 20, 2014 at 11:49 am
There is a policy to not issue plates with "controversial" content. This is obviously aRead More source of First Amendment litigation. However, it's also common sense. How about a "scrwcrst" plate or 'mslmpig" plate? Maybe "dimcrap"" or "repubdix"? "bigdick" or "wetcnts" are out- why? Are we prudes? Where this is heading is the end of personalized plates.
Who's That April 20, 2014 at 10:13 am
All - The subject matter is not about homes that merely need simple or minor repairs. It's notRead More about homes that have a trash can blown over in the yard, or a lawn that has not been mowed in nj week, or a flower bed that has weeds. The concern is for severely overgrown, dilapidated structures and or properties of which the Twp. needs to step in and doing something. I know the problem also does not only exist in Settlers - however, if other Barnegat Townsfolk would like to speak up and mention other areas, then do so - the Twp. needs to be aware and take appropriate action. Not speaking up will never resolve the issues. Here are JUST (3) examples of structures that need resolution: 1) Barnegat Blvd. heading to Gunning River: Blue and white two story home on right. Been abandoned for years, falling apart and looks like neighbors are now using property for parking their own cars in driveway. 2) Starboard heading towards newer development: Two story cream colored home on left - upper windows all smashed out, front door boarded up, overall property in disrepair. 3) Gunning River heading towards 9: a couple of homes on right side which have busted windows, boards over some and extreme overgrowth taking over the structures. Glad the green home at corner of GR and 9 was removed - keep up with the progress. Do people drive around with blinders on? I mean, is the thought process such as "it's not my problem"? The thing is, it is YOUR problem, it is MY problem it is OUR problem as a Township. Those surrounding properties are a hindrance when it comes time to get new business, a buyer or trying to get fair market value. Abandoned or inoperable vehicles in front driveways OR on the front lawns of homes is a visible eyesore. Not vehicles that have been there for a day that need a repair, I'm referring to vehicles with no tags, expired registrations, flat tires, smashed bodies and have overgrowth taking them over. Again, vehicles that have been sitting as such for years. The Twp. CAN do something by letting Home or Property Owners know that if "X,Y,Z" is not done, then the owner faces "1,2,3" consequences, be it fines, court action or in extreme cases removal of vehicles/structures due to condemnation. The subject matter is not about the minor issues - it's about blatantly obvious issues that should be addressed, because as a whole it affects property owners in direct vicinity of those dilapidated properties AND the Township. When a home is up for sale, potential buyers canvas the area and can SEE the problematic areas - it pushes a potential buyer away from the area. Vacant or abandoned structures are a liability for the home owner AND the Township. Leaving such properties as is invites vagrants, thieves (copper/metal), mischief and other resulting damages. Again, by way of Ordinances, Code Enforcement and legal action, the Township CAN do something. Feel free to discuss more - on a civil and adult level.
B. Smith April 20, 2014 at 10:27 am
@Who's That- I agree - I'm joint owner of a lot and these properties just decrease the sale value.
Elaine Taylor April 20, 2014 at 10:31 am
@Susan, the only home I own is my own. I do not have rental properties. I had posted on thisRead More topic, but deleted it after I was cast as a slumlord and "on the take". I did however mention that as a township committeeperson, I will contact the zoning enforcer and travel around town with him to view the properties and see the violations and make sure they are taken care of. I am happy to take part in "an adult" discussion as Who's That said. If anyone does not like me politically or how I am doing my job as a committeeperson, that's fine, post away, however, I won't tolerate being lied about.

Remember the Swine flu? Avian flu? Avian Flu 2? Nothing ever happened. These are scare tactics byRead More big Pharma to sell more and more drugs. I often wonder why anyone would want to use any of these products. It often seems the cure is worseRead More than the disease. The ones I love are the ones for mental problems. They only work in 1/3 of the patients. 60% is passing in school yet in these 30% is acceptable. But ask your doctor if ''X'' is right for you. What's happened to our society? And, why do they use young people to advertise Viagra? I'm laughing right now but it's not funny.
